Values Education
As a Values school, Fairfield Park Lower School actively promotes ‘Values for All’. Our 3 core values are Trust, Respect and Responsibility. As part of our Values ethos we fully promote the 4 core British Values of: democracy, rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance. We want our pupils to be well rounded citizens who celebrate all elements of British culture, have respect for their own rights and those of others, and, above all, celebrate the similarities and differences between members of our diverse community.
The current values we are promoting in school are:
- RESPECT
- PERSEVERANCE
- POSITIVITY
- FAIRNESS
- FRIENDSHIP
- COOPERATION
- RESPONSIBILITY
- INDEPENDENCE
- TRUST
- THOUGHTFULNESS
- PATIENCE
- COURAGE
At Fairfield Park Lower School, the children are introduced to the values half termly on a two-year cycle. This approach was chosen so that children become immersed in one value over a half term and fully understand what it is and how they can show it inside and outside of school. The Values are embedded throughout all practice and are introduced and discussed through a weekly assembly, homework, values songs, RHE lessons and snack times. Children are praised for showing their Values by all adults throughout the school and a 'Values Shield' can be won weekly for a values related focus.
In 2015 we achieved a School Values Quality Award, this is recognition of our values work within school and confirms that we are a bright, polite, friendly school that highly promotes Values Education through all our school practices. The feedback document is available as a PDF download here.
